Dash DhakshinamoorthyPresident

Dash is the founder of StartupMalaysia.org and the Host for the Global Entrepreneurship Week since 2008.

Dash’s mission in life is to help increase the number of fundable startups in the ecosystem. To this end, Dash has inspired hundreds of young people both in Malaysia and South East Asia to consider the path of high-growth entrepreneurship.

Under his leadership, the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Malaysia became one of the most active campaigns in the world. In 2009, Malaysia won the Host of The Year Award for the Global Entrepreneurship Week. In 2010, Dash was an invitee to the Presidential Summit in Entrepreneurship in Washington D.C hosted by President Obama.

Dash is also an alumni of the State Department’s prestigious IVLP (International Visitor Leadership Program) in the domain of startups.

In 2012, Dash became the Co-Director of the Founder Institute in Perth. The Founder Institute is the worlds largest idea stage accelerator in the world with a mission to create 1,000 high growth startups every year. Dash is educated both in Edinburgh Business School and the University of Cambridge.

Dato’ Fadzli Shah AnuarDeputy President I

Dato’ Fadzli Shah is a serial entrepreneur and angel investor passionate about web and mobile technologies. With two successful venture exits in Europe, he is an active proponent for localization and adaptations of successful business models into a Malaysian/Asian context. Upon returning to Malaysia, Dato’ Fadzli co-founded NEST in 2011, which went on to win the first season of MyEG’s Make the Pitch.

Dato’ Fadzli is a Chartered Statistician and graduated from University College London, Harvard and London Business School.

In his spare time, Dato’ Fadzli enjoys long walks on the beach as we as the trek through jungles, across rivers and over mountains to get to that beach!

Renuka SenaDeputy President II & Director of Community Development

Renuka has a degree in law and a Masters in Intellectual Property and Technology Law from Kings College London and is a Barrister at Law, Lincoln’s Inn. She has been called to the Malaysian Bar and practiced as an advocate and Solicitor at Skrine in the Intellectual property unit.

After leaving Skrine, she joined a multinational technology company, Sema, where she was part of a unit that managed the legal requirements for the group for Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan.

For over a decade since leaving practice and the corporate world, Renuka has been a serial entrepreneur participating in a dozen different entrepreneurial ventures. She was the co-founder and CEO for Mindvault, a boutique intellectual property consultancy which she helped build for seven (7) years. She exited Mindvault following a management buy-out exercise and since 2008, she has been working exclusively with passionate Technopreneurs via her most recent venture, Proficeo – a venture she founded to pursue her true passion – entrepreneur coaching, investment and mentoring.

Renuka is CEO of Proficeo Malaysia and has designed and implemented national level entrepreneur development programs for technology entrepreneurs. She is a coach, mentor and Angel Investor and in the past 5 year alone has designed and implemented entrepreneur development programs touching the lives of over 1000 entrepreneurs.

She often tells her peers (and bewildered parents) that chasing “success” is an uninspiring goal and that her aspiration is to live a life of significance. In the past 5 years since founding Proficeo – that’s exactly what she’s been doing.

Koh Lee ChingHonorary Secretary & Director of Market Access & Strategic Alliances

Ms Koh Lee Ching is a graduate of Aeronautical Engineering (B.Eng) from the renowned Imperial College, London and a serial Technopreneur with a few ventures under her belt.

She founded Calms Technologies Sdn Bhd in 2002 and successfully secured venture capital fund as well as R&D grant that enabled the company to develop its main product that now becomes its core technology for smart card implementation. The company helps customers automate and improve their card issuance, usage and management processes and maximises the return of investment of their smart card deployment. As the CEO of the company she is now looking at steering the company to the next level as a global player.

With the experience gained, she founded another venture based on her background as an engineer; Automated Design Xpress Sdn Bhd in 2007 with initial seed fund from the government to develop a web based solution for engineering workflow and process automation targeted at the manufacturing industry.

Her latest venture is a biotechnology company, Agribolics Technology Sdn Bhd, started together with her scientist brother leveraging on his expertise in harnessing beneficial microorganisms to create effective, environment friendly and safe bioproducts for crop protection of rice, vegetables and oil palm trees.

She is an active council member of the Technopreneur Association of Malaysia (TeAM) and was the President from 2009-2011. She has sat in various government grants evaluation and approval committees, invited as a member of the MSC Local Advisory Panel as well as the National IT Council (NITC) and National Innovation Council (NIC) chaired by the Prime Minister. She is also an IT sub-committee member of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of KL & Selangor (KLSCCCI) and the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM).

Koh Lee Ching believes in active participation within the entrepreneurship community to make a difference in improving the eco system and encourage more companies to start venturing into international market earlier.

Low Huoi SeongHonorary Treasurer

Low Huoi Seong has over 26 years of experience in the content industry, having started Vision with his partner in 1985. Today the group is vertically integrated, from content development to production and distribution as well as licensing and merchandising. The production capabilities range from TV and film production to animation and games. Distribution is regional (clients being the major broadcasters in Asia) and the production partnerships global (working with partners in Australia, Europe and North America).

Seong is passionate about doing things right and is always striving to build world-class capabilities in all aspects of his life. Apart from managing Vision New Media, he is often consulted about the Malaysian digital content industry, is currently a member of the Local Advisory Panel of MSC Malaysia, a member of the FINAS and TeAM boards and writes an occasional piece about the industry.

He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Human Physiology, 1978 (University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne), an M.Sc. in Management Science, 1979 (Imperial College, University of London) and an M.Sc. in Human & Applied Physiology, 1980 (King’s College, University of London).

He is a member of YPO/WPO and was the Asia Pacific Regional Chairman in 2005/2006. He loves diving/underwater photography and is the National Instructor of the Malayan Sub Aqua Club (MSAC).

Dr. Sivapalan VivekarajahDirector of Policy Institute

Dr. Siva comes from a diverse background of 30 years of regional entrepreneurship in manufacturing, corporate consulting, corporate finance, venture capital and Entrepreneurship coaching and mentoring in Asia.

He holds a Ph.D in Venture Capital studies from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland; an MBA (with Distinction) from University of Hull, UK; an LLB (Hons) from University of London and is also a qualified Chartered Secretary.

He is the Founder & Past President of TeAM. He was recently invited back to TeAM Council to set up TeAM Policy Institute and become its first Director.

His main interest is in mentoring startup companies, venture capital finance, Angel investing and Entrepreneurship. He is currently a Partner and Co-Founder of Proficeo Consultants Sdn Bhd, an Entrepreneurial Coaching and Talent Development company entrusted with coaching 300 Entrepreneurs under a Ministry of Finance and Cradle Fund program called Coach & Grow.

Dr. Siva is also a Co-Founder of AllStars Accelerator, a technology incubator that mentors Startup companies in the Information & Communications technology sector and is a mentor and investor in several Internet & ICT companies.

Azlan YaacobCouncil Member

Azlan Yaacob is focused in developing a low carbon and green economy through venture capital & private equity, consultancy and program management. His passion is entrepreneurship and commercialization, and his forte is the market development of discontinuous innovations.

In his entrepreneur career, Azlan founded several technology and program management companies. These ventures include the nationwide deployment of ICT infrastructure for 10,000 schools, a public private initiative to provide broadband access via corporate sponsorship and an integrated waste to wealth scheme for rural development.

Via his private company Hijau Mikro, Azlan is currently incubating a number of new ideas and that includes sustainable urban transportation, green leadership development and applied research learning centers close to ecological sensitive areas.

Azlan was formerly with leading ICT companies where he held senior regional positions in product management, business development and sales. These companies include Motorola, Boston Technology and Andersen Consulting. Azlan held expatriate postings in Indonesia, Singapore and France, and is familiar developing markets in ASEAN, Australia, South Korea and India. Azlan graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in Industrial and Operations Engineering.

In his spare time, Azlan plays for his amateur basketball team, RECON, and is the oldest active player in the New Community Basketball League (NCBL).

Nazrin HassanCouncil Member

Nazrin Hassan is the CEO of Cradle Fund Sdn. Bhd. (Cradle), which manages the Cradle Investment Programme (CIP), providing early stage funding for technology start-ups.

His career started in CIMB in corporate finance, in 1997. In 2001, he became a start-up entrepreneur and was also the Head of Funding & Finance Sub-Committee for TeAM.

Nazrin’s start-up team, Zarnet, won 3rd place, for the first nationwide business plan competition organized by McKinsey called Venture 2001 and he also became the youngest appointed member of the National IT Council (NITC) in 2002, at 28.

As the key lobbyist and co-founder of CIP in July 2003, Nazrin headed the policy structuring and implementation of CIP, before leaving to co-found another start-up venture in January 2005. He later became the Executive Director of TeAM in March 2007. In October 2007, Nazrin was appointed by the Ministry of Finance as the CEO of Cradle Fund, to manage the turnaround and growth of Cradle. In 2012, Nazrin became a think-tank member of the World Entrepreneurship Forum, representing Malaysia.

Bikesh L.Council Member

Bikesh is the co-founder of iTrain, South East Asia’s No 1 tech training centre and has been in the IT industry for the past 15 years. Highly motivated and ambitious, Bikesh has vast experience in the developer’s world.

Currently Bikesh is actively involved in training and mentoring mobile app developers on the iOS, Android and HTML5 platforms. His work on such platforms has attracted the attention of Apple that has undertaken iTrain for iOS education outreach programmes in SEA and Google nominating iTrain as one the first Google Web Academy’s in the world.

Bikesh has also recently founded 1337 Ventures which runs the 1337 Hub, a co-working space for app developers and 1337 Accelerator, Malaysia’s first accelerator for App Development with an initial RM5Million seed fund.
