ICT as a business tool is widely used within the technology community and the big enterprise market. People from the corporate and various government agencies in Malaysia are not foreign to some of the latest ICT trend, the benefits, its efficiency and cost savings it brings forth for the business.

Big corporate represent a relatively small segment of all businesses in Malaysia, as small and medium sized enterprises (SME) constitute 99.2% of all businesses. We believe that if more businesses at the bottom of the pyramid adopt ICT, it creates more opportunities for the ICT industry. Helping SME to use ICT and improve business processes is an important way to raise the nation’s overall labour force productivity.

TeAM has done several activities to the SME communities for the past few months. It encourages SME to adopt ICT by subscribing to affordable solutions on the cloud. The activities were carried out in the awareness and workshop format, introducing cloud computing to various SME group. The customer conversion was substantial, where some events achieve the conversion rate of above 70%. This cloud computing outreach is collaboration and in conjunction on initiatives with several industry communities and government agencies.

Seeing the success of this programme in the past, TeAM will continue the activity by reaching out to more SME group, and get more ICT solution providers to consider SME as their customer.

We did some Cloud Computing awareness and briefing sessions to several industry associations, including PERKOBF, WENA, PKPP, and Usahanita. We spoke about cloud and SaaS solutions that can improve the SME’s business, and the response was remarkable. Event photos are on our Facebook page here http://www.facebook.com/technopreneurs.

If you have a local SaaS solution for SME, or a SME wanted to know how would this benefit your business, please contact Wing Yew at wingyew@team.net.my.
